Performances

Broadway Classroom (Broadway Instrumental for the band and Step by Step for the color guard.)

  • Band – Your ensemble will be placed directly in the world of a Broadway pit musician and will work on a piece of prepared music with a musical director, giving constructive feedback and helping the students perform to the best of their abilities, followed by a question and answer session.
  • Visual Ensemble – Participants will be taught by an actual Broadway Performer, experiencing many different Broadway dance styles, followed by a question and answer session.
  • March in the National Cherry Blossom Parade

Itinerary

Day One – Tuesday, April 9, 2019

Depart Depart Spain Park High School this morning to begin your journey to New York City.

(Approximate drive time is 15 hours without stops, 975 miles.)

Arrival Welcome to New York City! Upon arrival, meet your Gateway Tour Manager.

Hotel Your Gateway Tour Manager will assist with hotel check-in.

Day Two – Wednesday, April 10, 2019

Breakfast Included

911 Memorial Visit the site of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. The names of the nearly 3,000 victims of the September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993 terrorist attacks are inscribed on bronze panels lining the two pools. Waterfalls cascade down all four sides of each pool, creating a special place for remembrance and reflection. The surrounding plaza is filled with oak trees and a callery pear known as the Survivor Tree, which was nursed back to health after surviving the 9/11 attacks.

911 Museum The Memorial Museum, located at the World Trade Center site, is to bear solemn witness to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993. The museum honors the nearly 3,000 victims of these attacks and all those who risked their lives to save others.

Lunch La Nonna in Little Italy or similar

♫ Broadway Classroom Participate in a Broadway Classroom. (Broadway Instrumental for the band and Step by Step

for the color guard.) Your ensemble will work on a piece of prepared music with a musical director, learning techniques of instrumental dynamics and acting through song. Next, you will perform the piece with a working Broadway performer, followed by a question and answer session. The workshop lasts 90 minutes and is held in a Broadway rehearsal studio.

Dinner Ellen’s Stardust Diner . Broadway Show Attend a Broadway show. From musicals and comedies to dramas and mysteries, Broadway has a show for everyone and no tour to New York City would be complete without it (based on a $75.00 ticket value).

 

Day Three – Thursday, April 11, 2019

Breakfast Included

Check Out Check out of your hotel this morning. Your Gateway Tour Manager will assist with the check-out logistics.

Depart Depart New York City to continue your journey to Washington D.C. (Approximate drive time is 4 hours without stops, 226 miles.)

Smithsonian Explore one of the fourteen national museums including the American History Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Air and Space Museum and/or the National Zoo. 

Hotel Your Gateway Tour Manager will assist with hotel check-in.

Dinner Carmine’s or similar

Illuminated Tour A licensed Washington, DC tour guide will join you on your motorcoach for a narrated tour of the illuminated memorials and monuments.

Day Four – Friday, April 12, 2019

Breakfast Included

White House Tour Tour the White House and learn about aspects of the White House, including its architecture, furnishings, first families, social events, relations with the press and world leaders (subject to availability and acceptance).

City Tour Tour our nation’s capital with licensed tour guides, driving past the National Mall,

Washington Memorial, National Cathedral, Embassy Row, and much more.

Ford’s Theater and Museum Take a self-guided tour through Ford’s Theater, the place where a single shot, resulted in the death of Abraham Lincoln (subject to availability).

Spirit Dinner Cruise Enjoy dinner while cruising the Potomac River followed by a DJ dance.

Day Five – Saturday, April 13, 2019

Breakfast Included

♫ National Cherry Blossom Parade Participate in the National Cherry Blossom Parade. The Parade is a complex mix of entertainment including gigantic balloons, magnificent floats, specialty units, celebrity talent, special production numbers and marching bands.

Lunch A boxed lunch will be provided.

Arlington Cemetery Tour the Arlington National Cemetery. Important sites not to miss include: The Tomb of the Unknowns, Robert E. Lee House, Kennedy Grave Site, Pan Am Flight 103, and the Challenger.

Dinner A meal coupon will be provided at Union Station.

Military Band Concert Attend a Military Band Concert this evening (subject to schedule).

Day Six – Sunday, April 14, 2019

Breakfast Included

Check Out Check out of your hotel this morning. Your Gateway Tour Manager will assist with the check-out logistics.

Depart Board motorcoaches and travel back to Alabama.

Arrive Arrive at Spain Park High School late this evening.
