Congratulations

Morgan Prater won first place in the Elizabeth Hudson Memorial Award.  The award is given annually to a HCS instrumental music student.  Based on audition, the award includes a $500 scholarship designated for private instrumental instruction.  Way to go, MORGAN!

The Spain Park Winterguard finished a successful season in the Southeastern Colorguard circuit in Kentucky last weekend.  It has been a wonderful season filled with beautiful performances. WELL DONE, ladies!

Audra Campbell, Danielle Duggan and Emily Zhang will represent Spain Park HS as part of the Alabama All-State Honor Band.  Audra and Danielle are also competing in the Super Solo event.  BRAVO!

 

Honors Recital

Please join us for a special Honors Recital this Thursday, April 12 at 7PM in the Plaza at the Hoover Library.  The concert will feature performances by six of our outstanding instrumentalists. It is free and open to the public. The plaza houses a coffee shop.  Come and enjoy beautiful music and fellowship!

 

Date Change

Please note the date change for our Band Parents 101 meeting on our SP Band Calendar (www.spainparkband.org/calendar) and the Month-At-A-Glance attached below.  The new date is TUESDAY, MAY 15 @ 6:30 PM.  This meeting is MANDATORY for all parents of band students planning to participate in the 2018-19 school year. (Current SENIOR parents are not required to attend!)

DEADLINE TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT – THIS THURSDAY!

 

The 2018 Band Banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 1 at 6 PM in the Banquet Rooms of the Embassy Suites, HWY 150 Hoover, AL.  All performing members (instrumental, guard, dance and majorette) as well as family and friends are encouraged to attend this special event.

 

Marching performers in good standing with the SP Band Boosters are free of charge.  Non-marching members, family and friends must purchase tickets for this event. Tickets include dinner and cost $30 each and are only available for purchase online using www.myschoolfees.com.  Tickets are not available at the door and, unfortunately, there is not an option for attending without the purchase of a ticket.

 

Use this form to reserve your seat.  Complete an additional form for each guest.  You must pay for tickets ($30) online using www.myschoolfees.com before making your reservation.

DEADLINE TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT – THIS THURSDAY!

 

Our 2018 Band Banquet is May 1, 6 PM held at Embassy Suite, HWY 150, Hoover, AL.  The banquet will begin with dinner @ 6 PM followed by our special awards and recognition.

 

You are invited to create a “Senior Display” for this event. There are tons of ideas for displays of this nature online (try pinterest!).  Senior students will be allowed a 3 foot wide x 30 inches deep table space at the band banquet. There is access to power outlets in most of the spaces (you must provide your own extension cords!).

Please let us know if you plan to set up a Senior Display by completing this short form.  We will have your spot reserved and labeled inside the banquet space.

 

Uniforms

Message from Elaine Ake, Committee Chair – Marching Uniforms

Volunteers are needed this week/next to complete the final washing of the marching band uniforms.  If you are available, please send an email or text to Elaine Ake, 205-585-7548.  Everything including gauntlets need washing.
