Here’s this week’s eNote:


Our trip to Orlando is just around the corner.  Please look at the weekly schedule linked above and online at www.spainparkband.org/calendar for an accurate calendar of events.  Here is a quick rundown of trip-relates dates to remember:


  • Parade Practices (MANDATORY for all traveling students) – February 4 and 11, 3:45-5:15 PM
  • MANDATORY Parent Meeting (All traveling students must have a parent/guardian present) – February 4, 6 PM @ Band Room 

***Ticket Information will be distributed at this meeting.  A Parent or Guardian MUST be present to receive your ticket information, allowing you to plan out your FASTPASS options before we leave!***

  • Departure – February 14, 7 AM
  • Epcot – February 15 (THIS IS A CHANGE)
  • Magic Kingdom w/ Parade – February 16
  • Hollywood Studios – February 17
  • Return – February 18, 6 PM


Our concert bands are making preparations for our upcoming performances at Music Performance Assessment (MPA) and the Crimson Festival of Winds.  

  • Our after-school rehearsal schedule is listed online at www.spainparkband.org/calendar  Our 2nd and 6th period classes will be combing for these performances.  Their rehearsals will be listed as Symphonic Winds.  Our 5th period is listed as Chamber Winds.
  • Donna Beisel, education coordinator for the Rosa Parks Museum from Troy University, will be making a presentation to our Chamber Winds class on Thursday, February 6.  The students are preparing a major musical work written in honor of Rosa Parks and Ms. Beisel is coming to share about Mrs. Parks life work.
  • Huge congratulations to our All-District Honor Band students: Sarah V., Sarah A., Emily, Z, Megan A., Ramsey E, and Michael C.
  • Double congrats to those that were selected for the Alabama All-State Honor Band: Sarah V. Sarah A. Emily Z, Megan A. and Michael C.


The Guard are currently preparing for their Winterguard season.  The show title for this year is “We Were Here” performed to the song “I Was Here” by Kristin Chenoweth.  They have several upcoming performances and would LOVE to see you there: February 8 – Hoover; February 22 – Thompson; and February 29 – Bob Jones.

  • There is an interest meeting for Guard on April 2
  • Guard auditions for 2020-2021 will be held April 13-17


Our Sapphires dance team will be performing at the Varsity Basketball game SP vs. Hoover next Friday night.  They also have a Spring Dance Choreography Showcase on April 30th.

  • There is an interest meeting for Dance on March 12
  • Dance Team auditions for 2020-2021 will be held April 6th-9th


The Majorettes will be hosting the Jaguar Twirling Club (JTC) again this spring.  There are 6 sessions on Mondays in February & March (Sign up with link on flyer: JTC Flyer).

  • There is an interest meeting for Majorettes on March 16
  • Majorette auditions for 2020-2021 will be held April 3, and 6-9 (Tryout Flyer)


Our Percussion Studio will be presenting a Percussion Ensemble concert later this spring.  Mark your calendars for this incredible addition to our upcoming activities.

  • Percussion Ensemble Dress Rehearsal – Monday April 20, 3:45-5 @ SPHS Theater
  • Percussion Ensemble Concert – Tuesday April 21, 6:30pm @ SPHS Theater


The Shades of Blue Jazz Band is preparing a new collection of challenging charts for performance and competition this fall.  We are proud to announce that Wyatt F. recently represented our school at the Alabama All-State Jazz Festival. BRAVO, Wyatt!
