eNote – July 19

Good afternoon SP Band!

What a FANTASTIC start to Band!  It felt so wonderful to work with our young men and women again. I was so proud of how each student adapted to our new safety procedures.  We are very fortunate to have a facility that allows for appropriate spacing both outdoors and indoors and an administration and nursing staff eager to help us make wise informed decisions about how to participate in this activity safely. We are all very blessed to call Spain Park our home!

  • As a reminder, we begin FULL BAND CAMP tomorrow morning at 8AM. One important CHANGE…we are completing camp at 3 PM everyday this week.  (That’s an 1 hour earlier than our original schedule!)  I’ll include an updated camp schedule below and a list of camp reminders in the space below.

  • We will be hosting a ZOOM BAND BOOSTER MEETING on July 21 at 7 PM.  This meeting will cover DIFFERENT CONTENT than our July 7 meeting. Each family is asked to attend.  Should we max out participation, we will share the video recording of the meeting so that you can watch it at a later date. This is a very important meeting as we cover Band Booster budgetary needs, plans for the fall and more.  Here is the ZOOM invitation:

  • Our staff continues to discuss options for how to approach the increased time lapse between band camp and the start of school.  We will communicate as soon as possible any REHEARSAL CHANGES for the weeks leading to the start of school.  I am so grateful for your patience and understanding as we work in these ever-changing times.
  • CAMP REMINDERS
    • Every student must complete an Intent to March form (https://bit.ly/2020IntentToMarch)
    • Every student must complete a Baseline Screening (https://bit.ly/Covid19BaselineScreening)
    • DO NOT SEND YOUR STUDENT TO REHEARSAL IF YOU SUSPECT THEY ARE ILL!
    • STUDENTS MUST HAVE A MASK OR APPROVED FACE SHIELD. PER HCS NEWEST GUIDELINES, WE WILL MASK INDOORS UNLESS PLAYING OUR INSTRUMENTS.
    • Students should wear sunscreen, a hat, and tennis shoes or sandals with an ankle strap.
    • Students need a beach towel for morning stretching and PT on the field.
    • Students should bring a THERMOS full of water.  We have filling stations available.
    • BRING LUNCH.  Students are not allowed to leave campus during lunch break.
    • Plan to arrive no more than 20 minutes before your scheduled rehearsal. Plan to pick your student up IMMEDIATELY after dismissal.
    • Student Parking is in the Athletics Lot. Parent Drop-Off is located in the Bus Lane.
    • DO NOT ENTER THE BUILDING until you have completed the Student Check In located in the Band Room Entry (Dumpster Doors).
    • Students will have their temperature taken before entering the building and they will be required to answer the following question: “Have any of your answers changed to the Baseline Screening”
    • It goes without saying, but being HONEST as your answer these questions helps ensure we all get to enjoy the marching band activity.
    • Students will enter the building for check-in, drop off instruments and report immediately to the field.  (See rehearsal schedule below).
    • Indoor rehearsal rooms have been set up with a minimum of 36 sq. ft. set aside for each individual student.
    • Students will not share equipment with others.
    • We will NOT USE LOCKERS during camp.
    • Students should not bring unnecessary personal items into the building. Use good judgment and keep personal items to a minimum.
    • The rehearsal space will be sanitized in-between rehearsals.
