~Month-At-A-Glance~

So thankful the AWESOME students I teach and their SUPPORTIVE families!  Thanks for all you do to support the SP Band! See some important notes below.  Symphonic Winds and Percussion have a special in-house field trip this THURSDAY in preparation for our AMEA performance!

UNIFORMS – ELAINE AKE

Some things I’m thankful for:  ALL THE PARENTS WHO WASHED UNIFORMS & GAUNTLETS.  Mom’s who helped with uniform fitting. The extra shoes finally getting sorted and organized. Parents who showed up a few minutes early and those who stayed late. The kids always being polite. Our Monday students who rolled the uniforms back. Student patience while changing uniform parts and the mom’s who pinned and hemmed. Only a few missing socks. The great job students did keeping the gauntlets matched, and not losing their gloves!  Kids who helped get uniforms to the car for washing and those who helped put them back. Overall this has been the easiest year ever!

There are still some fall clean up tasks to finish:

1)  Checking Shako boxes.(Uniform Room)

2)  Gauntlet & Glove washing/sorting.(Take home)

2)  Checking shoe bags  (Uniform Room)

4)  Check for needed repairs (Uniform Room)

5)  Fix minor buttons & fabric pulls. (Take home)

Give me a call or text me if you have a few minutes to help.:  Elaine Ake 205-585-7548

THANK YOU!

FUNDRAISING – TODD MIRANDA

We have already seen interest in getting coupon books for the coupon book fundraiser.  Glad to see folks getting excited. Our e-note went out a little late last week so in order to give you some additional time to sell the coupon books, we are going to extend the deadline to the Monday after Thanksgiving holiday. So we are extending the deadline for the coupon book fundraiser to November 26th. Feel free to email me or call if you need anything or have any questions. You can pick up a coupon book from Mr. Neugent in the band room, or contact me directly and I’ll work with you to get one to you.

Symphonic Winds

This is a special eNote for students and parents of our top performing concert ensemble

As we officially turn our full focus onto concert season, I wanted to share a few reminders about important dates and activities coming up in the next two to three months.  I will include a list below.

The Symphonic Winds have received an invitation to perform a 45-minute concert at the 2019 Alabama Music Educators Association Conference in Birmingham on Friday, January 18.  Over 35 ensembles applied to perform at this conference. Your students were one of only six ensembles chosen to perform. The honor associated with this performance cannot be overstated. You should be incredibly proud of your student!

On December 10, we will join with the Concert Band and SP Choral Department to perform our Winter Music Showcase. Finally, we will present a “Send-Off” Concert on our home stage on Thursday, January 17 where we will perform our full program for you, our biggest fans!

In addition to those three concerts, we have a number of after-school rehearsals scheduled (view the Monthly Calendar or online www.spainparkband.org/calendar) and two Band Camp Dates: we are holding an in-school field trip on Thursday, November 15 from 8:15AM-5PM and a special music camp on Friday, January 4, from 9AM-4PM.
