WEEKLY SCHEDULE

October 2, 2019

Hi Band Family!

I wanted to take just a second to update you on a few things…

SPARKS IN THE PARK was a TREMENDOUS success.  Many thanks to Chad and Ginger Hewitt, their leadership team, and to ALL OF YOU who worked so hard to host a WONDERFUL event.  So many of our guests RAVED about our facilities, your hospitality, and the format of our event. What a testament to your hard work, dedication to our students and desire to represent our school and community in a positive light.  THANK YOU!

HOMECOMING PARADE is tomorrow.  Students should wear their SPECTRUM shirt as their uniform.  We will organize immediately after school, participate in the parade, and then move to the band practice field to finish up our rehearsal.  We will dismiss at 5:45PM

We will be participating in the PRATTVILLE HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING CONTEST next Saturday.  This is a venue change.  The schedule is available on the WEEKLY SCHEDULE linked above and on our website at www.spainparkband.org

In case you missed the news, your students were AMAZING at the PINSON VALLEY CONTEST last Saturday evening.  They earned Superior Ratings in every caption and took first place for Drum Majors, Guard, Dance, and Band.  They earned the highest overall score at the event, regardless of classification and were awarded the CHIEF OF THE VALLEY for Best Overall Band.  They represented our school and community with class and distinction all day long!

It is not too late to register your student for our upcoming trip to ORLANDO.  We are very close to filling up our three charter buses and having to reserve a fourth.  It is critical that you register online as soon as possible.

PINK PLUMES PROJECT

One of our students, Lauren Grace, has organized a special fundraising project to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  We are asking every student to donate $20 to the Pink Plume Project. $10 will be used to purchase pink plumes for the instrumental students to wear throughout our Friday night performances in October (Breast Cancer Awareness month).  The remaining $10 will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Additionally, families may use the following link to make special recognitions in honor of friends or family members affected by breast cancer http://bit.ly/PinkPlumeRecognition  We will be collecting $20 (cash or check made out to SPHS) from students throughout the month of September and October.  Please help with this worthy effort. So proud of LG for spearheading this effort!
